"Libya based its claim to the area on an unratified 1935 treaty between France and Italy, the colonial powers of Chad and Libya, respectively. " What unratified treaty? --64.254.131.93 20:48, 2 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

See page 19 of the ICJ judgement: treaty of 7 January 1935. Though the judgement makes it clear that Libya's argument was based chiefly on a claim going back to the Ottoman empire -- I'll see if the article needs revising.

An {{Arabic}} template was placed on this page, but I would tend to doubt that this name was originally Arabic... AnonMoos 00:04, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Correct! It's more likely to be of Toubou origin.
