Plot Summary Rewrite
[edit]As noted by someone else earlier on this Talk Page, various elements of the "Plot Summary" section contained errors, for example Pirate Prentice clearly works for the SOE and not ACHTUNG, and at no point in the novel does any character ride a Zeppelin. I removed these errors and rewrote the majority of the Plot Summary section, which I believed was confusing (for example, it mentioned Enzian and Blicero, two relatively major characters, without providing adequate context of their role in the book's plot). I tried to clarify the plot summary and make it easier for someone who has never read Gravity's Rainbow to understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.28.152.34 (talk) 03:15, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
Pulitzer Prize Denied
[edit]The article currently contains the line: "a single passage involving coprophilia offended the Pulitzer Advisory Board, which rejected the selection. No Pulitzer Prize was awarded for fiction that year." This is completely unsubstantiated in the cited material. Unless someone can find a justification for keeping it, I suggest that it is removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.112.8.129 (talk) 23:47, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Subject matter categorization
[edit]I haven't read the book, but I get the impression there may be some WP:OVERCATEGORIZATION going on. These cats in particular jump out:
- Category:BDSM literature
- Category:Novels about ephebophilia
- Category:Novels with gay themes
- Category:Pedophilia in literature
- Category:Novels about rape
I guess the novel includes instances of rape/BDSM/ephebophilia/etc. but is it about those topics? See WP:CATDEF. These topics don't even seem to be explicitly mentioned anywhere in the article (or at least ctrl+f returns no results for "BDSM", "gay", "homosexual", "pedophile", "rape", etc. I didn't try to carefully parse the summary for indirect references though). The Title
[edit]The article has a section labeled "The title." Once upon a time, that section included information on what the title "Gravity's Rainbow" could mean. User Ashmoo deleted all of that information, but he thoughtlessly failed to rename the section, so it still says "The title" even though there is no longer any info on that subject. Sloppy, annoying, frustrating, should be rectified one way or another. Druff (talk) 21:07, 27 June 2023 (UTC)
Kazakh light
[edit]Isn't it Kyrghyz Light in the book? Ymblanter (talk) 15:48, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
