Products - Mac

[edit]

I think that this text in the Products › Mac section:

Macintosh, commonly known as Mac [...]

should be changed to:

Mac, formerly known as Macintosh [...]

The "Macintosh" name for an Apple computer hasn't been used since the late 1990s/early 2000s: Power Macintosh G3 up to 1999 (The following G4 models were called "Power Mac G4"); Macintosh PowerBook G3 up to 2001 (the following laptops were just called "PowerBook G4"). No actual computer from Apple shows the term "Macintosh" anywhere.

The search for "macintosh" on Apple's site yields no actual products result. Jack 6502 (talk) 08:27, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As long as this is notable, add this page to Category:Virtual reality companies. 67.209.128.18 (talk) 11:54, 20 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: Apple currently does not "specialize" in virtual reality, and the Vision Pro does not seem a popular sale. I don't think Apple would be a virtual reality company. Thanks, Myrealnamm (💬Let's talk · 📜My work) 23:04, 26 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I disagree. On similar grounds, Meta does not "specialize" in virtual reality, and yet if we were to exclude such major players in the industry it would make for a weird list. — HTGS (talk) 01:26, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When I search online for VR companies, I don't find a single list of such companies that doesn't include Apple. - Aoidh (talk) 01:35, 28 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Privacy and data security

[edit]

In the privacy section, it currently says "However, Apple has aided law enforcement in criminal investigations by providing iCloud backups of users' devices, and the company's commitment to privacy has been questioned by its efforts to promote biometric authentication technology in its newer[when?] iPhone models, which do not have the same level of constitutional privacy as a passcode in the United States."

It should probably be noted somewhere in here that as of 2023 with iOS 16.2, Apple allows users to opt-in to end to end encryption via "Advanced Data Protection" such that it is theoretically impossible for even Apple to access the data, preventing use in machine learning, but more importantly, disclosure or "leaking" to third parties.
